Newsom proposes his state somehow "withhold federal taxes" to pressure Trump. How?

"Politico" is a lying shit-site, always supporting Democrat lies.  So when Trump  talked about withholding federal gifts to California after the state defied his EO barring males from competing against girls in sports, we got this headline:

Now: I'm just some nameless citizen, whereas duh *faaabulous* Gavin Newsome and his party have ruled California for decades.  So dey smaht.  Reeel smaht.  I can't be as smaht as dey are, cuz dis sonofabitch is duh *governor of f'ing California,* eh?

So when dis mofo bleats dat *he* gon' "withhold fed taxes from duh fed gruberment," an' duh equally reeel smaht Democrat rat-bastards who run Politico don't laugh at Newsom, the *clear* inference is that the Democrat-fellating leftists at Politico think that idea is, like, totally plausible!

For Democrats, let me slow that leap down for ya: When a pol sez somethin' really dumb, an honest media outlet would point that out to readers who might not know.  Conversely, if a "media outlet" *doesn't say the pol's idea is ludicrous, what does that show about their intent, eh?

I suspect that's still to subtle for most Dem voters to grasp, but we'll see.

SO...when you pay your federal income tax, do you mail your check to the state?
No, it goes directly to the IRS.  So how does Newsom propose to intercept those checks to "withhold" those amounts from the feds, eh?

Some Dems counter that "Oh, what ouah faaabulously smaht gubnur really meant wuz dat duh state would withhold all federal gasoline taxes!  Yeh, dat's it!
 
Gosh, that was SO imaginative!  Reeally!  But of course it's horseshit: that tax is *paid by refineries directly to the federal government.*  So again, how does Newsome think he's gonna intercept and withhold those amounts?

Democrat: "Well duh state gubment collects LOTS of federal taxes from citizens and businesses and sends dat money to duh feds!  Yew jus' aren't smaht enuf to know!'

Okay sparky, tell us--specifically--what taxes you claim states collect for the feds.  Really.  Take all the time you like.

But of course you won't, cuz federal law sees to it that taxes claimed by the feds go directly to 'em, NOT thru the corrupt states.

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom has suggested California consider withholding tens of billions in federal tax dollars, after reports that Trump is preparing to cut some federal funding to the state.

Newsom’s suggestion came after CNN reported the president was considering ending federal grant funding to the state’s universities.

On X Newsom said “Californians pay BILLIONS more in taxes than we get back, so maybe it’s time to cut that off."

Trump has threatened to cut federal funding to force California school systems to comply with his EO banning "transgender" athletes from competing against girls in sports.

Democrat Assembly speaker Robert Rivas also floated the notion of withholding federal taxes Friday, shortly before Newsom raised the issue.  

“We’re the nation’s economic engine and the largest donor state, and deserve our fair share,” Rivas wrote. “I’ll use every legal and constitutional tool available to defend CA — we must look at every option, including withholding federal taxes.”

Just one small problem wif' dat faaabulous notion, asshole: just like personal income taxes, ALL businesses that pay quarterly or monthly witholding to taxes to the IRS make those payments *directly* to the feds.  How do you think you can intercept those payments, eh?

SURELY the Dem speaker of the whole f'n assembly (legislature) must know this, eh? He can't *possibly* be so uninformed or dumb as not to know.  But *if he knew that,* why would he suggest such obvious horseshit?

But this *obvious* horseshit has now spurred copycats in other blue states.
