In Dem paradise a 32-year-old man was imprisoned by stepmom for 22 years, weighed 68 pounds

Connecticut is supposedly a sophisticated state.  Just ask the Democrats who run the place.

Duh state government must be competent, cuz it's run by the Democrats, eh?  Been that way for decades.

Competent?  Really?  Horseshit.  Recently firefighters in Waterbury responded to a fire in a home.  When firefighters responded they found a 32-year-old man, who told 'em his stepmother had kept him locked up and nearly starving for 20 years.  He said he'd been locked in his room 22 to 24 hours a day, and had set the fire to escape his long imprisonment.

The man's stepmother called 911 to report the fire.  She told the 911 operator her stepson was "kind of passed out. He’s out of it.”

But when firemen arrived and rescued the 68-pound man--32 years old--from the burning home, they found him responsive.  And what he told officers was deeply concerning.

Concerns about the man’s well-being reportedly arose when he was still a child. The man's former elementary school principal said he'd contacted the states Department of Children and Families (DCF) at least 20 times with concerns about the school's then-student.  The DCF said..."We din' find nuffin'.

The DCF previously told CNN it had no records related to the family.  Oh wait: Recently the department said it found records related to the family.  What a surprise, eh?

The man told police he met with DCF officials twice when he was in the fourth grade--right before his stepmother pulled him out of school.

He told police his stepmother instructed him to tell the department everything was fine.  And police conducting the welfare checks also reported finding nothing suspicious.

He told cops that a year ago he found a lighter in a jacket that belonged to his late father--and started devising an escape plan.

Now, obviously there crazy people in the world, and you can't keep 'em from doing crazy shit.  But you can execute 'em, or sentence 'em to life in prison, and maybe that'll deter at least some of the others.

But that's not the point of this piece, which is:  Most Americans think government workers, like the ones who work in the state's Department of Children and Families--are competent.  Maybe a few are, but most?  This case calls that into question.

Recall that the principal of the kid's elementary school said he called DCF over 20 times--and no one ever found evidence that something was wrong.  "But...but...but...gruberment is competent!  Reeeally!"

Hmm...
