I asked AI about California's faaabulous high-speed rail. It lied--repeatedly

Wanna see how cleverly "AI" lies?

Today (3/20/2025) I just asked "What two cities will California's high-speed rail line connect NOW?"  Here's what it bleated:

As of March 20, 2025, the California High-Speed Rail project's first phase, currently under construction, aims to connect San Francisco to Los Angeles (494 miles).

I knew from dozens of other sources that because of multi-BILLION-dollar cost overruns and delays, the state had been forced to reduce the route to either 119 or 171 miles, far below the 494 miles cited by AI.

The key to the brazen lie--the pro-Democrat, pro-Newsom propaganda, the Narrative--is those two little words "aims to..."

So I tried again: "What 2 cities will cali's high speed rail initially connect?"

AI bleated "California's high-speed rail project, in its initial phase, is designed to connect San Francisco...to Anaheim/Los Angeles."

So, same answer as the first one.  And the same cunning lie: "...is designed to connect..."

Finally I asked "How many miles of actual rail has cali's high speed rail project laid?"

That finally turned up a piece from a Sacramento TV station admitting this:

The project--initially sold to voters as costing $45 billion--has now ballooned to $128 billion, and the initial route is down to a mere 165 miles connecting the two bustling cities of Merced and Bakersfield.  (Nothing against those two cities but they're not major centers.)   The project's Inspector General has said the "rail authority" is unlikely to complete this short segment by its planned completion date "sometime between 2030 and 2033."

To distract from that clearly troubling message, the I-G soothingly bleats, "Every dollar spent has been accounted for."  Which obviously doesn't say how all those billions were spent.

Even the Sacramento TV station seems uncertain about the length of the much-reduced line, quoting both 171 miles and 119, which would run from Bakersfield to Fresno.

Google says you can drive the 119 miles in one hour and 44 minutes.

So why does AI never admit the truth of this total rip-off of taxpayers, eh?

Simple: With few exceptions, AI has been programmed by leftists.  Yes, it supposedly "learns" by reading.  But what did its left-wing programmers allow it to read?  Apparently mostly Democrat-party propaganda, because there's not a critical word about how awful this project is--bloated, warped by consultants and corrupt Dems in the state legislature.
