Latest great Democrat scheme: "We need government-owned grocery stores!"

A member of the city council of NYC is running for mayor of that socialist paradise.  And in the video at this link he presents the idea that will get him elected: Creating government-owned grocery stores." They'll be non-profit, and will be exempt from sales tax and property taxes!  Wow, that should guarantee really low prices, eh?

In NYC not having to pay sales tax or property taxes would drop food prices at least ten percent.

And it'll work!  Absolutely!  It'll produce yet another socialist paradise, just like Venezuela!  

For young Americans and Democrats that's sarc: for years the shelves in that nation were bare, and are still relatively so.  It was so bad that people were *stealing zoo animals, presumably for food.*  Seriously.

Ahhh, I hear my communist friends bleating "Dat not true!  Dat FAKE newz!"

San Francisco already has a city-funded grocery that goes one better than the New York councilman's plan: it only serves customers who are on one of several types of welfare--and everything's free.  Seriously.  So taxpayers pay for food so those on welfare can use their cash to buy iPhones, drugs and cheap $100 tennis shoes.
