Over the past eight years the University of Michigan has spent a quarter of a BILLION dollars pushing "D.E.I."

Ponder that number for a bit.

There are now about 240 university employees with some form of DEI in their job description.  Most students are now forced to take at least one class addressing “racial and ethnic intolerance and resulting inequality.”

"Racial and ethnic intolerance"?  On what planet?  We're so tolerant we tolerate students blocking campus spaces with tent camps lasting over a month, and so-called "activists" being allowed to smash windows and spray-paint slogans on university buildings.

The university boasts about training professors in “antiracist pedagogy,” and DEI lackeys hand out flyers titled “Characteristics of White Supremacist Culture”--among which they claim is “worship of the written word.”

Wait...you're claiming that wanting damn university students to be proficient in reading and writing is "white supremacy"?

DEI goofballs claim it's exactly that.  That's how insane these people are.  And wokie university adminishits have let them get away with it.

Even the webpage of the damn engineering school promises a “pervasive education around issues of race, ethnicity, unconscious bias and inclusion.”  Teaching actual "engineering" seems to be a distant afterthought.

Since 2016 the university has poured roughly a quarter of a billion dollars into D.E.I. programs, according to an internal presentation.  In 2021 the Heritage Foundation found UM had by far the largest D.E.I. bureaucracy of any large public university.

Across the country wokie college administrators were rapidly expanding spending on D.E.I, convinced that such programs would produce...um...a more diverse array of students and faculty.  Okay, but to what end?

Today the Powers That Be (whoever you think that is) seem to be slowly realizing that "DEI" isn't the Holy Grail the "elites" claimed it was.

A dozen states have banned or limited D.E.I. programs at public universities. After the Oct. 7 attacks, as campuses across the country erupted with protests against Israel, critics accused D.E.I. programs of fostering antisemitism.

Things had gotten so bad that even MIT was ordering all job candidates to submit "diversity statements."  That order has now been rescinded.

But Michigan hasn’t retreated an inch. Instead the wokiez have redoubled their efforts:  A year ago the university inaugurated what it calls D.E.I. 2.0. At Michigan’s flagship Ann Arbor campus, the number of employees who work in D.E.I.-related offices or have “diversity,” “equity” or “inclusion” in their job titles increased by 70 percent, reaching 241.  (The school’s own figures, which count the D.E.I. work force differently, show less growth over time and a much smaller staff as of last year.)

According to a confidential report, a committee appointed by Michigan’s provost — stocked with professors with D.E.I.-related appointments — urged the school this summer to continue ordering every person applying to join the faculty to submit a "diversity statement."

Now: You don't live in Michigan--a Democrat-ruled shithole run by the ghastly socialist dictator Gretchen Whitmer.  Your kids don't go to a Michigan university, so why should you care about any of this.

Because it's a moral crime: Imagine how much better a university could be if it spent a quarter of a BILLION on, say, hiring more professors, cutting class size?

"Nah, bro, dat jus' silly.  We way bettah off havin' 240 pipo makin' gud green pushin' dat DEI wagon!  What we reeeely need is a thousand DEI staffers!  Hey, why don't we eliminate the engineering school?  Why we need mo' engineers, anyway?"
