Elite universities and the biden DOJ caught in a huge self-contradiction before supreme court
It's hard for ordinary schemers to succeed in fooling people for long. By contrast, with the help of the Media, a powerful entity with essentially infinite assets can fool the population for years, even decades. (If you think that's hyperbole, the biden regime is still hiding thousands of pages on JFK's assassination.)
It's not often that the truth embarrasses powerful entities. But when it does, it's fun to watch the scramble to try to get the population to ignore the face-plant.
For years, elite American universities have been admitting minorities with far lower scores than Asians and whites--a practice often shortened to "affirmative action." There was no ambiguity about this, but the universities argued that they wanted to do it to keep minority enrollment up. And critically, they claimed such practices had virtually no effect on the number of minority students admitted.
Seriously. During oral arguments before the Supreme Court in the recent affirmative action case, Harvard’s attorney claimed AA "had no effect with respect to [admission] outcomes."
He actually made that absurd claim. And all the "friend of the court" briefs filed by other universities and the DOJ made similar arguments. All assured the court that race was NOT a significant factor in admissions. Only Ketanji Brown-Jackson believed that.
But mere minutes later, Harvard's attorney claimed "race consideration" was absolutely vital to keeping the percentage of minorities at the desired level. Wait...that's a total reversal of your position just minutes earlier.
And now that the court has ruled that race can't be considered in admissions, the Media and universities are screaming that this new ruling will make a massive difference, substantially reducing minority admissions.
So which of those claims are ya going with, assholes? It seems clear that your claim that race played virtually no role in admission decisions to elite universities was a lie, and now with "removing AA will make a huge difference" you've unthinkingly admitted that you lied.
But don't worry, snowflakes: The court gave you a huge loophole to keep admitting minorities with lower scores, by giving credit for "life experiences," without ascribing a race. So a good story about overcoming adversity will still do the trick--which is fine.
I'm willing to bet that the percentage of minorities in the next class entering the elite schools won't be even one percent lower than the previous class. In other words, the elite schools will continue to admit minorities with far lower scores. Cuz...Diversity, comrade. And you won't see a single story about that.
