Last year GM "VP of sustainable workplaces and sustainability officer" was asked where the electricity comes from

The woman being interviewed in the vid below is Kristin Zimmerman, who has the title of "vice- president of sustainable workplaces and chief sustainability officer" for General damn Motors.  Glorious title, eh?  Her CV reads like she's brilliant.  After all, she has a PhD, which means she must be brilliant, right?  And she's a VP of GM, and we know how carefully government and big corps select VPs, eh?

Here's a fawning piece about her record:

Zimmerman won the first student paper competition in 1990.  She began her professional career with the General Motors Research and Development Center in 1993, where she created GM’s Academic Partnerships program.  From 1997-99 she worked on advanced engineering and design.

From 2000-09, Zimmerman worked in energy and environmental policy including an assignment in Beijing.  She continued her energy and environmental policy work on the Chevy Volt from 2006 to 2012

So... given her stellar CV and experience in "energy and environmental policy," and fact that she has a PhD, and the fact that she worked on GM's flop the Volt for SIX years, you'd think she'd know at least a little about where the electricity to power those faaaabulous, totally-non-polluting (per Democrats), non-CO2-emitting electric cars comes from, eh?  I mean, she's supposedly working in "energy" and "sustainability, so how could someone with her vaunted background and position not have a solid idea about the power source for the thing she work on for six years, eh?

(For young Dems, the Chevy Volt was an electric vehicle.  It sold so poorly that emperor Obama rammed thru a bill giving $7,500 of your parents' tax dollars to anyone who would buy one of the things.  Wait, is that Constitutional?  No, of course not, but Republicans didn't say a word, cuz...magic.)

So...In Jan of 2021--just after Porridgebrain was installed as quote-president-unquote--Kristen was showing off a brand new GM EV in Lansing, Michigan.  Watch the vid here, note the smirk on her face, then read the transcript below.

Kristen:  Everybody thought we killed the electric vehicle, and we didn’t.” [disarming smile]

Reporter (not carefully screened to avoid tough questions): “So what’s charging the batteries right now? What’s the source?”

Kristen: “Well, here [gestures to the "Charging Station" sign].  It’s coming from the building.”  ["the source"??]

Reporter: “I mean, what’s their source for the power?”

Kristen: “Oh, actually Lansing feeds the building.  Lansing feeds power to the building, so I don’t know … I’ll bet you they’re a bit of coal...Oh , they’re heavy on natural gas, aren’t they?”

To find out, the reporter asked a named person from the Lansing  power company--since Zimmerman said "Lansing feeds the building.".

He answered simply, truthfully, “Our power is about 95 percent coal.”

In other words, 95% of the energy used to power electric vehicles in Michigan comes from burning coal, which is more polluting than the internal combustion of a regular gasoline-powered car.

Now...We expect this sort of silliness from Democrats and Leftists (she's both).  But who would expect that the "VP of sustainability" for GM would say, "Well, it comes from that outlet there.  Wait, Lansing feeds the building.  So, Lansing.  But it's fine cuz Lansing is heavy on natural gas."

Wait...isn't natural gas one of those dreaded carbon-based fuels the left is always bleating about?

Why yes, yes it is.  So how does buying an EV cut CO2 emissions (not that CO2 does anything harmful anyway)?

[crickets]

Okay, we're giving Kristin a hard time.  Surely anyone with a PhD in engineering--let alone someone who worked on the Volt EV for SIX YEARs knows that the electricity that powers EVs doesn't just magically appear at the outlet without SOME sort of motive power.  Kristin just didn't expect that un-screened, unapproved, rude question from the clearly right-wing-violent-extremist reporter, so she didn't have a dodgy, disarming answer already prespared.

This interview happened just 20 days after Porridge was installed but got little notice.  Gee, there's a shock, eh?  Cannot IMAGINE why the Mainstream Media wouldn't hang this "VP of sustainability" out to dry, can you?

Oh wait, I can: She holds down a vital die-versity slot.  And she's helping the biden regime sell more EVs to get Americans to junk all carbon-based fuels.  Yay Dems!  Cuz carbon bad, eh?
