A liberal Democrat is interviewed about oil

If you're a typical American, everything you know about "oil"--everything you think is true about the stuff--you learned from the mainstream media.

Typical Democrat: "Don't be ridiculous!  I went to one of the finest ivy-league prep-schools in the country.  I graduated from Hahvahd!  So not only am I better-educated than you, I'm also smarter. A lot."

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!  Come right up sir, or ma'am, or whatever you're identifying as at the moment.  What did your elite, faaabulously-expensive prep school teach you about oil?

"That it's dirty and nasty, and using it is killing the planet by spewing tons of the deadly gas carbon dioxide into the air.  Even a deplorable like you should know that Global Warming is killing our planet!"

Ah, I see.  And since you're clearly a caring, responsible global citizen who obviously would never want to harm the planet, I take it you don't use the stuff, right?

"Of course not!  Do you think I'm as dumb as you deplorables are?"

Do you own a car?

"Yes, but it's a Tesla, so it doesn't use gasoline or that icky diesel, just totally clean, non-polluting electric.  You probably couldn't afford one."

Ah, how very liberal of you.  Tell me, what type of batteries does it use?

"Is that a trick question?  Electric ones, of course.  What a dumb question!"

You're doing a great job showing people that you're liberal.  Do batteries create energy?

"I'm a diversity consultant, not a scientist, so I wouldn't know.  What difference does it make?"

Do they have to be re-charged?  You know, like your iPhone.

"Uh--yes."

So where does that electricity come from?

"There you go asking dumb questions again.  Everyone knows electricity comes from the outlet in the wall!  How can anyone not know that?"

A 'diversity consultant,' you say?  Makes sense.  Question is, where does the electricity come from to get to the outlet?

"Windmills and solar, of course.  Certainly not from icky oil or gas or coal!"

Really?  So if the U.S.Energy Department told you 53% of all electricity in this country is produced by natural gas or coal, would that change your conclusion about the need for fossil fuels?

"Gosh, I'd like to keep debating this with you but my jet is waiting to take me to an important diversity conference in Aspen."
