Watch bidenfail's Sec. of Energy--who knows nothing about energy--cackle hysterically when asked about plans to...
Jennifer Granholm was hand-picked by Biden (or more likely by whoever is running the bidenfail shit-show) as U.S. Secretary of Energy.
She was chosen for this post despite a TOTAL lack of experience or expertise in anything even remotely related to energy. In this respect she's exactly like biden's Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigeig, who never had a scintilla of experience in transportation before the biden regime nominated him.
Despite the total lack of experience, whoever pushed biden to nominate both Granholm and Buttigeig knew that both would be confirmed, because senators wouldn't dare vote against a woman and a homosexual man, married to another man. To do so would risk...criticism by elites in the Media.
Now some background for young Americans: You know the trendiest movie stars and rappers, all the tricks of the latest i-phone, and you believe Americans are causing global warming by driving cars (cuz that's what the NY Times and CNN and your teachers have taught you). But being under 25 or so, you know virtually nothing about either energy or history. So here's some of both:
If you were flying in an airliner, would you want a pilot with lots of experience, or one who'd just soloed last week?
If you needed an operation and wanted the best outcome, would you want a surgeon with lots of experience, or one just out of med school?
Obviously the answer to both is "I'm pretty sure lots of experience is a better choice!" So if a person high up in government saddled you with a pilot or surgeon who had no experience at all, what conclusion would you draw?
Obvious: The biden regime (and all Democrat pols) don't think plentiful, affordable energy is a good thing--cuz if the regime did, it would never have appointed someone who has zero energy experience as Secretary of Energy. (Nor someone with zero experience in transportation as Secretary of Transportation.)
Now: When Obama was emperor, the U.S. depended on imported oil--much of it from the Middle East--for almost half our total consumption. Everyone--especially the so-called "elites" at the NY Times, Washington Post and the alphabet nets--realized that was a precarious situation, cuz the nations that sold us oil could suddenly decide to stop selling to us, just as they did back in 1973.
Wait, ya say you never heard about that? Hmmm, how...utterly predictable. The school system doesn't want you to know about things like that, or else they would have told you about it. After all, they take the time and trouble to tell you everything great about transgenders, and how faaabulous it is to change your "gender," eh? So it's not that they don't have the time, they just ignore what they don't want to teach you, and replace it with useless, damaging bullshit.
Yep, back in 1973 the Middle-East nations stopped selling oil to the U.S., and the economy cratered. Gas lines three miles long at every gas station. "No gas" signs at many stations. Rationing. Bad news.
After that awful experience a few Republicans suggested more drilling would produce more oil and gas, but every single Democrat totally sneered at that idea. Emperor Obama himself is on video declaring "It's silly to think we can drill our way to energy independence." And Repub candidates who called for more drilling were absolutely bashed by the NY Times as being stupid and naive. After all, it was *silly to think...?*
Well...thanks to American knowhow and brilliant technology, independent oilmen ignored the emperor and the supposedly-brilliant, Hahvahd-educated "elites" and pioneered new ways to produce oil. And over the sneering predictions by the "elites," U.S. oil production rebounded from a low of about five million barrels per day in 1985 to around 9 million by 2018.
And by 2019 the U.S. was producing all the energy we consumed. We were "energy-independent"--something the elites and Obama had sneered was just "silly" to even imagine. It was almost a miracle. In fact we were doing so well that we even sold coal to China.
The plentiful supply of *domestic* oil dropped the price from the equivalent of $100 per barrel (in today's dollars) to as low as $10, before stabilizing at around $40 per barrel for most of Trump's time as president.
But when biden was sworn in, the first things he did were three actions to cripple oil drilling and availability in the U.S.: On his first day he cancelled a big pipeline already being built between the U.S. and Canada. He also suspended the issuance of drilling permits on leases in the Gulf of Mexico--leases companies had paid for, and in many instances had spent millions of dollars "shooting seismic" on. (That's a technique to show the structure of underground rock formations to decide on the location most likely to contain oil.) Finally, he banned drilling off the Atlantic coast and in much of Alaska.
All 3 of those moves were *intended* to cripple U.S. oil production--and did. Oil production dropped. Suddenly the U.S. was no longer energy-independent. And as the laws of supply and demand predicted, when that happened, what do you think happened to prices? (Take your time--I'll wait.)
Yep, in a year the price of gasoline has increased from about $2 per gallon to about $3.30 per gallon. And it's gonna get worse, cuz the folks running the regime absolutely cannot, will not, admit they f**ked up. They've staked everything on killing carbon-based fuels--at least for "ordinary Americans" (the non-elites)--and will not abandon that position, no matter how high the price of energy rises.
So with that background: The Secretary of Energy can push policies that either make it easier for companies to produce more energy, or make it impossible to do so. Leasing and shooting seismic costs millions. It takes years from the time a company locates a "prospective" area to the first test well--which often doesn't produce oil. Even if it does, it takes billions of dollars more for a company to bring it to full production and make its first dollar of profit. If a company believes the government will do what biden did--steal the prize after they've spent millions on it--companies quickly decide the risk isn't worth it.
The Secretary of Energy has LOTs of influence on whether oil companies are willing to trust the government to honor its contracts, and thus to commit millions of dollars to exploration and drilling. So watch this clip, as bidenfail's hand-picked Sec of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, is asked on the air about her plans to increase the supply of oil in the U.S.
Her response? She laughs hysterically. "Oh my God, that is hilarious!" she cackles. "Would that I had the magic wand on this. As you know, oil is a global market. It is controlled by a cartel. It is called OPEC, and they made a decision yesterday not to increase production."
This person is totally un-serious about energy. She knows almost nothing about energy per se (though she knows how to blame OPEC) and couldn't care less. As such she is the perfect choice for Secr. of Energy for a regime that seems determined to undermine the U.S. as much as possible.
So...when the price of energy keeps rising (it's expected to almost double in Europe by next spring), the Dems will try to convince you it's OPEC's fault, or Russia's fault, or due to unusual cold--which they'll blame on YOU for causing, not Global Warming (the old Narrative they had to junk when the planet stopped warming) but "climate change. They'll claim its due to any bizarre thing they think will fool people, instead of admitting what anyone who can read the numbers knows: Under Trump the U.S was producing all the energy we used. Now we're not. What's changed?
Thanks, Democrats.
