More on those 1,800 cancelled Southwest flights over the weekend: Perfectly normal, reasonable explanations, citizen
Further to yesterday's story about Southwest having to cancel 1,800 flights over the weekend: a few anti-government, right-wing conspiracy theorists have claimed this was caused by a few hundred Southwest pilots
protesting our Dear Leader’s order that every corporate employee take
the jab. So to discover the truth I turned to the Mainstream Media.
Got 161,000 hits. "That’s so SILLY," the media explained. They assured everyone that the cancellations were NOT caused by a protest against the "take jab or be fired" order, but were simply caused by terrible weather, and “military training in the area.” And besides only "a handful of flights were canceled."
Newsweek (which was once a print magazine) quoted Southwest's executive vice president of daily flight operations saying
"Although we were staffed for the weekend, we could not anticipate the significant disruption that was created from unexpected ATC [air traffic control] issues and bad weather across our Florida stations."
See? Perfectly normal causes! NOTHING to do with pilots protesting our president's perfectly reasonable, constitutional order that every corporate employee must take the jab by some close future date. And notice that the president did NOT order that refuseniks be fired! No no no, citizen! Companies will be allowed to keep refuseniks on the payroll as long as they like. They just won't be allowed to work, I guess. In any case, smart people like you won’t let those anti-government scaremongers fool you with scare stories, right?
If anyone you know claims it WASN'T the weather or “military training” tell ’em to Google it! Cuz the NY Times and EVERY SINGLE media outlet printed the exact same story: “Bad weather,” and “military training operations.” Go see for yourself. Exactly the same stories. 161,000 of 'em. So it must be true, right?
I mean, what reason would the Mainstream Media have for lying to ya, right?
Oh sure, the anti-government, anti-vaccine wackos claimed it was weird that those two causes--bad weather and "military training operations in the area"--caused Southwest to cancel 28% of its
flights yesterday, while other airlines were almost unaffected, but
that’s just because Southwest has so many more flights into Florida! See? Perfectly reasonable.
And that other scare story? The one about air traffic controllers in the Jax ARTCC calling in sick? The FAA, like, totally debunked that, saying it was just a rumor, and that any minor staffing shortages were just coincidence, and temporary, and were quickly resolved Friday night. Unfortunately that small glitch caused ripples in the system that forced SWA to cancel 28% of its flights on Sunday. Perfectly normal effect of massive severe weather and extensive military training ops.
So if any of your friends are skeptical, be sure to tell 'em that the 1,800 cancelled flights were NOT cancelled because of a claimed pilot protest against the vaccine. That's just silly. Why would pilots risk being fired by calling in sick? It doesn't make sense.
The vax is *perfectly safe*. No one has suffered ANY ill effects, let alone died from taking it. Any rumors to the contrary are simply scare-stories being spread by right-wing extremists!
Your government has your best interests at heart. They would never force people to take an injection of anything harmful. The government is your friend! Presidents Joe and Kamala love you! There is nothing to fear from your friends in the ruling party, citizen. Nothing.
Besides, fewer airline flights helps fight Global Warming, right? You don't want Mother Earth to get hotter, do ya? No, of course not! So if there are any more cancelled flights, don't complain: it's just caring, responsible airline execs fighting Global Warming!
Yeah, dat's it.
In other news, bad weather continues to plague Florida, with Southwest cancelling another few hundred handful of flights today (Monday).
