Canada's "Minister of State Propaganda" issues orders on "Diversity of Online Content"
From the Minister:
Access and exposure to a wide diversity of content are vital for a resilient democracy. A healthy democracy requires its citizens to have access and be exposed to information and content from a wide range of views and perspectives.
We who have been elected and/or appointed to rule you are concerned that citizens’ media diets aren't diverse enough. Remember, access to a wide diversity of content is vital for a "resilient democracy."
This wide diversity of content helps citizens recognize and reject "disinformation," a tactic used by cunning anti-government forces to mislead citizens. For example, some people post pieces on the internet claiming Islam is dangerous, or that if you have a child who wants to have "gender-affirming surgery," and you disagree, government schools or government doctors have removed children from custody of the parents.
These stories are "disinformation." Oh sure, they might be true, but it's disinformation because it contradicts our view, which is far more important. Also, it's better that you not read these things since that can cause you needless concern. See, the "wide diversity of content" we pushed earlier doesn't include content that causes you concern.
Similarly, some posters claim Covid-19 was actually made in a Chinese laboratory! Can you imagine? How absurd! We know with complete certainty that only crazy conspiracy-theorists believe such goofy things! The "wide diversity of content" doesn't include stories like this, so your Ministry will delete these posts whenever they appear.
Similarly, some people claim that unless someone has a "co-morbidity" such as obesity, the virus--which, we remind you, was NOT created in a Chinese lab--is less lethal than the common flu. Rational citizens recognize this as disinformation. After all, for over a year now you've seen nightly running totals of deaths of people who had the virus. Which means the virus killed them, even if they might also have had some other, minor factor like a gunshot or car accident. Again, this is not what the Ministry means by "wide diversity of content." After all, your government leaders, like the brilliant Dr. Tony Fauci, would never lie to you.
Finally, some people claim some weird drug from 1940, or some other weird drug discoverd a few years ago (Iver-something) cures 99.98% of people with Covid-19 in a couple of days. This is disinformation. There are no peer-reviewed, double-blind, paired-subject studies with more than 127 subjects showing these alleged "drugs" worked that fast, so we've banned all posts mentioning those drugs. Because this is not what we mean by "wide diversity of content."
So to summarize: A "resilient democracy" requires a "wide diversity of content." But just as President Joe said about amendments to the Constitution--that none of them is absolute--the term "wide diversity of content" doesn't include disinformation, so we'll remove all posts in that category. Although we haven't yet published rules for what constitutes "disinformation," until those are finished a good rule of thumb is that before you post something online, be sure it agrees with what the Ministry says.
Be safe out there, citizens! Remember, a "wide diversity of content is crucial to a "resilient democracy!" But of course we can't just allow ALL views and opinions to be posted online, right? Because that would be anarchy. You're not an anarchist, are you? Good.
