Muslim mayor of London names "Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm" to rename streets, statues, etc.
Since we're in such danger here at home, normally I don't waste time poking fun at the morons who run other nations. Let them reap what they sow, eh? But the mayor of London--Muslim Sadiq Khan--has set up a new Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm, and it's too juicy a target to let it slide.
Unsurprisingly, the people Khan hand-picked to staff his commission are almost entirely left-wing political activists, campaigners, and celebrities. Wow, what a surprise, eh? The commission's webpage gets right to the point of its mission, saying "London is one of the most diverse cities in the world. Yet its statues, plaques and street names largely reflect a bygone era."
Ah, yes..."its statues, plaques and street names largely reflect a bygone era." But all that detritus of a bygone era can be thrown out--and will be, because "die-versity is our strength!"
So herewith, the first recommendations from the Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm:
- "Downing" is a historically white, upperclass British name. Thus having the residence of the Prime Minister at "10 Downing Street" is insulting to People of Color, thus to immigrants. After extensively polling Immigrants and People of Color, we propose that this name be changed to "10 Islamabad Street";
- "Trafalgar Square" commemorates a sea battle during a time when the U.K. was (and we can hardly bear to write this) an Imperial oppressor. While it's true that none of the Immigrants or Persons of Colour whom we polled knew this, after we told them what Trafalgar was they were offended, so we propose that this square be renamed "Mujahid Square."
- "St. Paul's" cathedral was named after a Christian apostle. Surprisingly, not all of the Immigrants we polled found this insulting, but a very outspoken few indicated they considered this an insult to members of their religion, so we propose it be renamed to "Al Aqsa North Mosque."
- "Windsor Castle" was named after a British royal family. This causes tragic unease to immigrants, so we propose it be re-named as "Racist palace."
- "St Mark's square" is obviously named for a Christian saint, so insulting to members of other religions, so we propose it be renamed "Saladin Square."
- "Westminster Abbey" is a historically Christian organization. The insult needs no explanation, so we propose it be renamed "All-persons' Tourist Attraction."
- "Abbey Road" is obviously named after a Christian organization, so we propose that it be renamed "145th street."
- Currency: All English bank notes bear a portrait of the Queen. The insult to oppressed citizens of the former empire requires no elaboration. Thus the Commission recommends that banknotes be re-designed to feature portraits of inspiring, non-Imperial persons such as Greta Thunberg, Martin Luther King, John Lennon and Robert Mugabe.
