Diversity snowflakes at NASA decree that names of galaxies will be changed to be PC
Have we reached Peak Insanity yet?
In the drive of bureaucrats and associated leeches to demonstrate their extreme Virtue, NASA has found the Last Frontier of Incorrectness: They claim some galaxies and other heavenly bodies have “offensive” nicknames. And thus NASA has decreed that those names shall be cancelled.
In a press release Thursday the agency said from now on all planets and heavenly bodies will be referred only to by their scientific names.
The “Eskimo Nebula" was discovered in 1787 by William Hershel. Under NASA's decree, from now on it will be referred to only as NGC 2392, under penalty of hate-crime charges.
Similarly, NASA decreed that two nearly identical galaxies called “Siamese Twins galaxies” will likewise be known only as NGC 4567 and NGC 4568.
NASA said it was decreeing this change due to "systemic discrimination and inequality in all aspects of the field." In fact the agency has a very highly-paid "Associate Administrator for Diversity and Equal Opportunity," who said “These nicknames and terms may have historical or culture connotations that are objectionable or unwelcoming, and NASA is strongly committed to addressing them.”
You may well wonder how NASA--an agency of the U.S. gruberment--can unilaterally decree that the names of things way out there shall be cancelled. Do ya think that decree will bind the rest of the world? Seems like pretty authoritarian stuff to me. But hey, the "Associate Administrator for Diversity and Equal Opportunity" has to do something to earn that huge salary, eh?
Wonder if that dude is considered an essential employee? Do ya even need to ask? Of course he is, cuz NASA's highest mission is "diversity"--as proudly proclaimed by Obama's pick for the top slot at that goofy agency.
If Peak Insanity isn't here yet, it's gotta be pretty damn close.
And in other news, yesterday the head of the House Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, Representative Carla Skank (D-Ca) introduced a bill that would ban the use of the term "Siamese cats." Skank said "This term could have historical or culural connotations that are objectionable or unwelcoming."
