Trump ending "Net Neutrality" was supposed to kill the internet. So what happened?

Just before Trump took office, Team Obama was strongly pushing a thing called "net neutrality."  It would have let the government regulate every last detail of internet-provider pricing.  According to Democrats, we absolutely HAD to have this, because otherwise da eeebil providers would undoubtedly use their freedom to reduce download speed ("throttle") poorer users in order to sell higher-priced service to the wealthy and corporations.
 
In December of last year, the FCC proposed to scrub "net neutrality."  Instantly the Lying Media and Dems told Americans that Trump's plan to scrap net neutrality would kill the internet.  This had exactly the effect Dems wanted, as protesters mobbed the home of FCC chairman Ajit Pai and celebrities attacked him online.

NBC News described the likely result: "Try this scenario on for size: You wake up, reach for your phone, and head to your favorite news site to check the headlines. But instead of the latest news, you see a message from your cellphone carrier: 'This site is not available. Please upgrade to our deluxe package to access it.'"

None of that happened, of course.  Instead, in the past year broadband download speeds rose 35.8 percent and upload speeds are up 22 percent. All without massive fee increases or upgrading to a “deluxe package.”

Net neutrality didn’t usher in the apocalypse. Neither did the tax cut, the appointment of Brett Kavanaugh or the U.S. pulling out of the Paris climate agreement.  The sky is still where it’s always been.

"Wait, how can that be true?  Didn't NBC tell us it would be a disaster?  And they've never lied to us before, right?"
