Virtually all large cities have been ruled by Democrats for 50-plus years. And they're sh*tholes. Correlation?

Someone pointed out that virtually all big U.S. cities--including some of the worst sh*tholes in the country--have Democrat mayors and city councils.

Immediately, a Democrat countered that "Ooohh, this is, like, totes misleading becuz many cities are run by city managers, who are non-partisan."

Uh...while it's true that lots of *smaller* cities have a professional city manager, that comment is a pure deflection:  No Democrat mayor and Dem-run city council would tolerate a conservative city manager.  Plus, city managers know they serve at the pleasure of the pols who run the place, so they can't enact conservative policies and still expect to keep their job.

So let's look at the facts:  Here are some good-size U.S. cities with Dem mayors: Chicago, NYC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Tampa, Charlotte, San Francisco, L.A., Portland, Seattle, Denver, St. Louis, Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham, New Orleans, Newark, Trenton,

Hmmm...How many of the cities on this list are clean, well-run, have balanced budgets, low crime, low drug use and so on?

Here are the largest cities--admittedly, no huge ones--that had (R) mayors at start of 2018: San Diego, Jacksonville, Ft. Worth, OKC, Miami, and lots of smaller ones.

How do those cities stack up in terms of the same criteria above?  Certainly smaller cities have fewer problems with crime and drug use, because...uh...it's a total mystery, eh?  But it's equally undeniable that the largest cities are ruled by Dems, and have huge problems.

Would they do better with Republican leadership?  Hard to say.  In fact, impossible, since their residents will never elect Republican leaders.  So...a mystery forever.
