Why has the Lying Mainstream Media been siding with Iran's mullahs?

In examining U.S. media "coverage" of the massive anti-regime demonstrations in Iran, many Americans have noticed that many of those stories seem to take the side of the regime against the demonstrators.  Since the demonstrators seem to want freedom--a goal that's extremely hard not to support--the media's support for the mullahs seems...odd.

One commenter noted that something like 98 percent of journalists are leftists.  They wholeheartedly supported Obama and Hilliary, and uniformly hate Christians, Jews and Trump.  He notes if the revolution in Iran succeeds--admittedly a huge longshot--it would damage Democrats and boost the standing of Trump.

It's human nature that the more one supports a bad idea, the harder it is to admit that your support was misplaced.

The commenter noted further that Leftists believe all societies, religions and governments are equally valid.  If that's true, it must follow that all humans must have the same goals, and thus conflict must be the result of misunderstandings.

 

This, of course, is horse shit, but to Leftists it's a huge basic principle that they're unwilling to abandon.

 

To leftists, there's no fundamental difference between Islam and Christianity.  If that's true it must follow that the mullahs ruling Iran are no different than Trump (though totally different from Obama and Hilliary; a conclusion never examined).  It follows that they must be reasonable people who want the same things we want.  We just have to find the right words to reach them.

 

Thus the Left sees nothing wrong with Obama giving $150 Billion to the mullahs, as an incentive to get his vaunted nuclear "agreement."  Literally, I've seen half a dozen leftist "elites" saying "Hey, that money was theirs anyway, so Obama did the right thing by giving it back to 'em."

 

The leftist media simply cannot accept the notion that Islam is fundamentally committed to murder and conquest--as ordered by the Koran.
 

The second reason the Lying Mainstream Media is against the Iranian people is because Trump has already gone on the record as supporting the protestors.
 

NYT writer Bret Stephens recently wrote that no matter what Trump does, Stephens would oppose him.

 

About the best spin you can put on a statement like that is to say that the writer didn't mean what he said.  Otherwise you'd have to conclude that the writer is functionally insane.
