Trial starts for illegal alien driving drunk at 100 mph who killed state trooper in Washington state
On May 2nd, 2024 in Washington state, an illegal alien named Raul Benitez-Santana--driving drunk and high at 100 mph--slammed into the back of a highway patrol car stopped on the shoulder, killing the state trooper.
Three weeks ago his trial started. His public defender claims the crash was "due to a coming together of unfortunate circumstances."
Ah yes..."unfortunate." All jus' bad luck, eh? The fucking rat-bastard illegal admitted to being high and having drunk an unspecified amount of beer, possibly to support what's now called the "French Muslim defense," which is "I wuz impaired so yew cain't blame ME!" Which has worked several times in France and is now being tried here.
First the public defender filed a Motion to Dismiss, claiming drunk driving isn't a crime in Mehico, so duh drunk driver wouldn't have known it's against U.S. law.
Same for driving without lights at night. Plus, the light switch wasn't labeled in Espanol, so the driver didn't know how to turn on the lights, or thought the lights would come on automatically at night.
Also, he didn't know the speed limit was 70--presumably because numbers in Espanol are different than in English, eh?
Nah, just kidding: The defense motion to dismiss simply claimed her "undocumented American" client was being unfairly targeted by the Trump administration because he was from Mehico.
"See, a U.S. citizen would nevah have been charged! Duh only reason dis po' undocumented American wuz charged wuz cuz he wuz from Mehico an' din' have no documentation! Yep yep yep."
That's actually pretty close: The public defender claims all charges should be dismissed because prosecutors violated Washington state's sanctuary laws by publicizing the driver's immigration status.
That's brilliant. Seriously. I haven't read the state's "sanctuary laws" but I suspect the trial judge will agree, regardless of the actual words in duh "law," cuz dat's duh way duh Left rolls: "Dere's a 'penumbra' of 'emanations' in duh law dat support dis."
(For young Americans: That's the actual reasoning and words used by the SC to rule that the Constitution contains an implied legal right to abortion in Roe v. Wade.)
If the trial judge allows this, then any illegal who commits murder can get off by getting a leftist "journalist" to disclose the killer's immigration status. In that case no crimes by illegals would be punishable in "sanctuary states."
The public defender admitted "the van was driving above the posted speed limit"--yeah, 100 mph. And note the phrasing, as if the van was driving itself, subtly shifting blame from the driver to the vehicle.
The illegal was driving with no headlights, at 2 a.m. Defender says "...on one of the darkest stretches of Interstate 5." Again a subtle blame-shift: "This was caused by the fact that there were no lights on dis highway." See, all car makers have a workaround for dis, called "headlights." But apparently those are optional in Mehico.
What the female defender didn't mention in her opening (understandably) was that the illegal was also both drunk and high.
The public defender said "It was an accident, and not all accidents are crimes." Which is true. But this one was.
Surprisingly, the killer was convicted. But AOC and the pro-illegal caucus (all Democrats) have demanded that he be released while his case is appealed on the grounds that the jury was tainted by having learned he was "undocumented."
