A fun idea for European cities
One of the benefits of having lived everywhere and done everything is that you see an idea in one part of the world and later mate that with a dash of tech and get...a new thing that helps. So...business idea (just kidding):
When I lived in Thailand, small towns were awash with a 3-wheel bicycle-like critter called a "sammlar"--a human-powered taxi. When you got downtown on the bus you'd hire a sammlar to take you the mile from the bus stop to the cafe or store or whatever. Cost a dollar or so.
Now: Everyone who's been to Europe has seen those big open-top double-decker buses that tour the whole city. Tourists are delighted to spend $30 to get a great tour of the city. You can even jump off and explore, then get on the next one.
Now suppose you put 50 pounds of batteries and a 2-hp motor on a sammlar. Tourist hires the driver for 20 bucks and gets the same tour. Maybe 40 miles total, so 50 pounds of batteries is way more than enough. Advantage is that if tourist sees something attractive, the driver stops and waits for ya.
Of course you couldn't patent this, so if it turned out to be popular there'd be a dozen competitors in a month. Oh well...
