Total propaganda piece from Fortune says federal layoffs will "destroy the American economy"!
I've previously posted about the counterattack being mounted by the Democrat party, the Deep State and their Media lackeys. The piece below is yet another example. Headline:
"Donald Trump’s decision to cut down the federal workforce could lead to an economic disaster in some parts of the country"Turns out that by "some parts of the country" they really mean DC and northern Virginia and Maryland, home to 20% of the government's 2.4 MILLION employees. And as we'll see, it's not gonna be even noticeable. But the wailing by the Dem propagandists is over the top.
The author gets her catastrophic predictions from two organizations, one called "Partnership for Civil Service," which the author describes as a "nonpartisan organization." Sure, Jan.
A second source is an outfit calling itself "Partnership for Public Service." Not to be confused with the previous "Partnership for Civil Service." Totally different, eh? And oh-so-totally non-partisan.
Bullshit.
The gist of the piece is that fired federal employees will be forced to spend less on food and entertainment as they look for jobs--something no federal employee has ever had to worry about before Trump, eh? Plus, all fired or retiring employees will be getting their full salaries for a generous eight months as they look for jobs.
How many private-sector employees get full salary and benefits for eight months?
The author claims the reduced spending will impact "restaurants, food trucks, and other small businesses" in DC...something the editors at Fortune seem to consider a profound revelation.
If this surprises ya, the author then finds a "labor economics" professor at Berkeley to confirm the startling revelation:
“All those people will have to cut back on groceries, and miss car payments, and all the things that people have to do when they’re unemployed."
Yep. Total breakthrough in advanced economics! No one ever realized that before now, eh?
The author goes on to note that the surge of unemployed people with specialized "skillets" (seriously; no editing, apparently) could actually force some workers to move as they look for jobs elsewhere. The Berkeley prof tells us the expert term for this is “geographic mismatches." “The private sector may have jobs," he says, "but they’re not in Washington.”
It's almost criminal, eh? Almost like a war on the federal government! Yeh, dat's it!
Finally the piece ends with a quote from the Berkeley prof:
“If you were trying to destroy the American economy, I don’t think you could do much better than what they’ve done in the last month.”
Now: feel free to search past issues of Fortune Magazine for ANY articles warning of the dire effects of prior layoffs, or entire companies closing. Let me know if you find any.
If you think the purpose of Fortune's article was to tell readers about the stunning revelation that people who get laid off or fired spend less, you're too stupid to breed.
No. The purpose of the propaganda piece was to peel undecided voters away from voting Republican in the midterms, by blaming Trump for "destroying the American economy."
Wait..."destroying the American economy"? The whole thing? What horseshit. Not even close. When you realize how many of those who took the generous (8 months of full salary!) buyout or were "probationary employees" did NOT live in DC, you'll realize that the effect on DC's economy will be too small to measure.
But the propagandists at Fortune are happy to end the piece with "“If you were trying to destroy the American economy, I don’t think you could do much better than what they’ve done in the last month.”
Wow. Total Democrat-fellating propaganda piece. And no one should be surprised.
