GOP Speaker reportedly okay with dropping the requirement for a warrant for FBI spying

This week the House will debate reauthorizing Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.  If you pay attention you know that law requires the government to get a warrant to spy on Americans.

Keen observers may also recall that the FBI violated that law in order get the FISA court to issue a warrant to allow the FBI to spy on Trump aides.  The FBI did that by falsely telling the FISA court judges they'd met the law's requirements for getting a warrant.

Now a staffer for House Speaker Mike Johnson said the Republican speaker believes the existing warrant requirement shouldn't be in the new law.

Johnson himself hasn’t said anything to the public, for obvious reasons.  But insiders say there’s a concern if the new law retains the existing warrant requirement, "it would sink the bill with the administration, and potentially in the Senate."

Cunningly, Democrat-fellating Politco describes it as "If the warrant requirement is *added to the bill,* falsely implying it's not in the current law.  Interesting slant, eh?

40 years ago the Left screamed bloody murder about "government surveillance" of leftist organizations.  But somehow today Democrats are not only no longer worried about more government spying on Americans, they're actively pushing for MORE government spying.

Say, you don't suppose this total reversal of position is because the Dems now control the government so they know any warrantless spying would be on their opponents instead of on them, do ya?  Perish the thought!
