How propaganda creates the illusion of consensus

Americans are bombarded by propaganda every waking moment.

Some of it you recognize: advertising is propaganda, just without such an obvious political slant.  "Hey kids, here's the latest cool thing!"  "All the cool kids are doing/getting [X] now!"

Or the variant, "Get yours today, before they're gone!"  Manufactured urgency.

Everyone recognizes these tactics when done by advertisers, eh?  Okay, maybe half the population does, but the point is, you notice it in advertising because they're trying to sell you a product.

But when there's no recognizable product, most people don't recognize propaganda.

Example: In western nations there's an apparent "consensus" that letting 8-year-olds decide to change "gender" is not only beneficial, but mandatory--meaning that the government will take your kids away if you refuse to agree to it.

And yes, it's already happened.  Yes, here in the U.S.  The only reason you don't believe it is that "That's just ridiculous!"

Note: the phrase "That's just ridiculous" isn't a valid argument that something's not true.

But how did this apparent consensus arise?  Obviously not by a vote.  Well at least not initially; now Democrat voters in Washington state have passed a LAW enacting the things noted above.

"Wait...that vote is a kind of consensus, eh?  So there!  Neener neener neener!"

Certainly a majority vote is a kind of consensus.  But how did the voters arrive at their position?  Answer is that it's a manufactured consensus.  Totally ginned up by the Media and Hollywood and the Democrats.  Totally contrived, like the "must-have" rush for the latest iphone.  Let me explain.

How do you decide what's cool and desirable, eh?  Do you sit down with a pencil and paper and weigh the pros and cons?  No, you don't.  You hear and read what companies want you to, and form your conclusion based on those things.  Yet you firmly believe no one led you to your opinion or conclusion.

Now what about people who don't pay as much attention to the "newz" and ads and the NY Times as you do?  Once the "cool kidz" come down on one side, the rest just play along.  After all, what could it hurt, right?  Everyone wants to be liked, be cool, be part of the crowd, eh?

This was known even before the Roman Empire.

Example: Everyone has noticed that starting about three years ago virtually every ad you see on TV has a mixed-race family, and/or an obviously gay couple.  And one out of three characters is black, compared to less than half that percentage in the U.S. population.  All those ads totally distort reality, so why do companies pay to produce 'em?

Because it makes the company look "cool." It also makes viewers believe those things are cool, "cuz look at all those happy, smiling faces, eh?  They're obviously having fun.  Yay!"

Nothing wrong with that.  Free country, eh?  But ya need to become able to recognize when they're doin' it.

Now: The trans movement went from near-zero to mandatory in about four years.  It exists in what's called a "self-referential world," in which the players all cite their allies as proving their claims.  All dissenting views are suppressed, often with the same sneers as the regime did with Covid: "You must 'follow the Science,' deplorables!"

Problem was (and is), the so-called science is fraudulent, based on cunning people forcing "officials" to kowtow to the mentally ill.

Example: California's totally-Democrat-controlled legislature passed a LAW making it a crime for parents to hire a third party to talk with their wannabee-tranny kids about their trendy choices.

In every case where parents object to biological males being allowed to compete against females, the Left has screamed that "it's SO UNFAIR that these mean parents want to prevent dis po' chile from playing sports!!  Not a single mainstream media outlet says "Uh, sports?  He's absolutely able to play on the boys team."

That's never mentioned cuz it cuts against the "manufactured consensus."

Another example: no state lets kids drive at 14, ostensibly because they're not mature enough to be behind the wheel.  No state lets kids drink alcohol or vote under 18.  Yet the tranny mafia (the Left, Democrats) insist that ten-year-olds are educated enough, and emotionally mature enough, to make a decision that will sterilize them for life.  Hmmm...

But once the fake "consensus" is manufactured, people will self-censor to avoid the risk of being unpopular.

As a result, we get the illusion of consensus.  Bingo.
