Yeah, dat's whut dey tol' ya in skool, right?  And you're still free in a few ways, so there's that at least.

You're totally free to watch any TV channel.  Yay!  But if you try to catch and store rainwater that runs off your roof, duh EPA will fine ya.  Seriously, they did that a decade ago, and got away with it!

If you hate the U.S. you're totally free to burn the American flag.  That's per an actual Supreme Court ruling, cuz...free speech, comrade!  Yay!  Just don't try to burn--or even pull down!--a "pride flag," cuz dat beez "hate speech," comrade!  Americans have been thrown in prison for five years for doin' dat!

You kin criticize any group you want...cuz, free speech, right?  Well, not quite right: If you criticize doctors who do sex-change surgery on 15-year-olds you can be charged with "hate speech."  Same if you complain that males pretending to be girls insist on being able to change in the girls' locker room.

You're free to buy any food sold in a market.  Well, not "any."  See, some real foods aren't legal, cuz dey gots molecules in 'em dat duh gummint don' like, eh? 

Oh, I see some of my liberal Democrat friends don't believe dat.  Yeah, well...dey don' believe it cuz duh NY Times an' WaPo an' CNN an' MSNBC an' duh alphabet nets din' tell 'em.  So nevah happen, eh?

Sorry, gullible morons, it's totally true.  Duh fed'rul gummint won't let you grow certain mushrooms, an' will throw you in prison wif your bail set at a million dollars!  Well, unless you're a member of a "specially-protected group."  Den it totally okay!

Example: In the Peoples' Republic of Connecticut a man was jailed for growing mushrooms in his basement.  He would have been fine if he'd registered the biz (i.e. asked for permission) and said he was selling to Native Americans for certain "ceremonies."  Then ship to two dozen "wholesalers" in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.  Then totally cool.
