Dems to introduce bill to bar home-insurers from raising premiums for EV owners?

As some of you may have heard, electric vehicles that get into saltwater tend to catch fire. And since EV battery fires are very energetic, if an EV is in your home's garage when it catches fire, it usually results in the entire home being destroyed.
As the number of fires from battery-powered cars caught in salt water from hurricanes increases, our good friends in the auto industry say they've heard that insurance companies will increase the premiums on homeowners insurance for customers who park EVs in their garage.
Since this would obviously hurt EV sales, our friends in the auto industry would like us to pass a law prohibiting insurance companies from "discriminating against" EV owners, by barring them from raising the premiums for homeowners' insurance for owners of EVs.
Because raising homeowners' premiums on EV owners would cost automakers billions in sales, this offers our Party an opportunity to earn $100 million in campaign donations from automakers to help us defeat Trump next year.
Thus next month we plan to introduce a bill we're calling the "Insurance Fairness Act, which provides that insurance companies that want to offset the extra risk of EV fires on homes would have to raise rates on all homeowners equally, even if a homeowner doesn't own an EV.
The keywords to emphasize to voters are "fairness" and "equity." Explain that owners of EVs are saving the planet by avoiding carbon-dioxide-spewing cars, and since this benefits all Americans, EV owners shouldn't have to bear the cost of higher premiums. Our focus groups say voters love this line, and we've already briefed our Media friends.
Obviously since we control the senate, passage is assured. And we'll work with our nominal GOP allies in the House to ensure our bill passes the House as well.
