"Wokie" national sorority ordered a local chapter to admit a 260-pound tranny. Surprisingly, some girls sued
Sororities are female associations, usually on university campuses. In the past they've been pro-female, which seems pretty reasonable for a sorority.
Then in 2018 the national officers of the parent organization of a sorority went woke: its president, supported by the members of the national board, issued a "memorandum"
titled “Guide for Supporting our LGBTQIA Members,” ordering campus
chapters to admit “individuals who identify as women.”
Four years later, in 2022, a chapter of that sorority at the U of Wyoming--buying into the tranny craze-- knowingly invited a male claiming to be female to join. That action made only the tiniest ripple in the Mainstream Media, which was absolutely uninterested in covering it.
"Local interest only," they bleated. Not worth getting readers worked up about, they bleated. It's what they always say when they want you not to pay attention to something.
Now seven past and present sorority members are suing the sorority for admitting the tranny. A part of the legal complaint reads, “A male does not become a woman just because he tells others that he's female..." The plaintiffs are asking the court to void the man’s membership in the sorority.
The tranny, Artemis Langford, is shown below. Langford is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 260 pounds.
The lawsuit claims the sorority's bylaws and other governing documents is for women--which does seem pretty reasonable for a sorority. The 1871 bylaws say “any lady may become a candidate for membership.” Unfortunately the citizens of 1871 didn't think they needed to define "lady." Or woman, or girl, or female, for that matter.
The ACLU's tranny legal specialist countered that "Trans women *are* women, so obviously no rules or bylaws have been broken."
Why the national organization would pressure its campus chapters to admit a tranny is a great question. So of course no reporter is asking. But the answer is obvious: "virtue signaling." The wokie gals at national didn't want to be accused of "trans-phobia"! The filing also noted that the sorority's national officials encouraged
officers of the local chapter" to offer the tranny membership, and that national officers pressured the UW chapter to admit Langford to raise the chapter’s national prominence.
The plaintiffs allege that the “memorandum” issued by the parent organization could not, as a matter of law, change the bylaws and other founding documents of the sorority, and that the sorority has therefore breached its fiduciary duty toward its female members.
Moreover, for reasons unknown, when members were to vote on whether to admit Langford, the chapter abandoned its normal anonymous voting, changing to a vote that was visible to all members. Several members said they would have voted against Langford in an anonymous vote, but because the other members would know how they voted, they felt pressured to vote to accept Langford.
Before the vote, the president of the chapter and two other officers spoke to all the members, telling them they could only vote against Langford if they could state specific concerns about his personality.
The complaint also notes that Langford had a 1.9 cumulative grade point average in the fall of 2022. But chapter rules say a minimum 2.7 average is required for prospective members.
It's not known why this requirement--which is in the rules for all women--was waived for the tranny. And of course no reporter has asked.
One member who argued that Langford wasn't a woman was given literature to “educate” herself. Cuz duh wokiez have declared "trans women ARE women," and they claim that puts an end to the discussion, eh?
Interestingly, Langford is a well-known figure as a legislative intern for the state Democratic Party.
