9-year-old girl and two others shot to death in Orlando, suspect in custody, no motive known

In Orlando on Wednesday morning somone fatally shot a 38-year-old woman.

At 4pm, as several reporters on the scene were preparing to do video clips on the shooting, a man walked up to a car where two reporters were sitting and opened fire, killing one.  The other is in critical condition.

The killer fled to a home about a block away, where he proceeded to fatally shoot a 9-year-old girl and wound her mother, who is in critical condition.  The motive for that attack is unknown, as there is no known connection between the killer and either the mother or daughter.

The sheriff's office arrested 19-year-old Keith Melvin Moses for the murders of the journalist, the girl, and the 38-year-old woman whose murder the journalists were reporting on.

Authorities say Moses has a lengthy criminal history, including assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and grand theft.

Unprovoked murders like this happen every single day.  You just almost never hear about 'em unless they happen in your city.

But if a white man fatally shot two women and a 9-year-old girl the story would be national news--and you know that's true.

If you doubt that, recall how long the unprovoked shooting of a black jogger by a white man in Georgia led the evening news.  And justifiably so: it was outrageous.

So my question to you is this: in Orlando yesterday the killer killed three people, including an innocent 9-year-old girl, but these outrageous, unprovoked murders are ignored by the national "media."  Yet the same crime by a white man would be national news.  Why the double-standard, in which one killing is national news for two weeks while the other is deemed "of local interest only"?

Think about that, and let me know if you have an idea about why.
