What do South Africa, Venezuela and San Francisco have in common?
You're not from South Africa, so why should you have any interest in what that nation is experiencing, eh?
One reason: It shows the likely future of our country.
See, when the nation of South Africa was established back in 1961, it had a thriving economy and was extremely prosperous. It was run by descendants of Dutch settlers, called Afrikaans. Its currency, the rand, was worth about 66 cents.
Africans from different tribes all over the southern half of that huge continent began pouring into the country looking for work. Eventually about 90% of the citizens were black, most from other countries.
Starting in the early 1970s, liberal media and the liberal pols running western nations decided it wasn't fair that the Afrikaans ran things, so all the western nations got together to pressure the Dutch to formally resign and turn the country over to the blacks.
The Afrikaans government tried to placate the world by carving six or seven "homelands" out of South African territory that would be run by blacks. You won't be surprised to learn that this didn't placate the liberals one bit, and world pressure on the government continued.
In 1994 all blacks were allowed to vote, and to the surprise of no one the communist-backed "African National Congress" won. The government run by the descendants of the Dutch settlers handed over power to Nelson Mandela. And with that mission so well accomplished, western liberals turned their attention elsewhere.
The realists of the world could see the disaster on the horizon, and by 1999 the rand was worth about 16 cents, having lost three-quarters of the value it had in the early 1970s.
Western liberal: "But...but...but...dis not possible! We SAID turning the country over to the majority would be faaabulous! So you LIE!"
Really? Try searching for the history of the value of the rand, Snowflake.
But as damaging as the catastrophic drop in the value of the rand is (it eliminates any desire to save, and makes it more profitable to borrow money that you hope to not have to repay), that's only the beginning:
After the totally corrupt leaders of the black ANC government stole everything that wasn't nailed down, it's now been replaced by an even more radical-left government, run by a party called the EFF. Which quickly passed a LAW allowing it to seize ALL property owned by white farmers, without paying any compensation. Those farmlands would then be given to EFF supporters. Cuz, equity, comrade.
SO...can anyone predict the outcome? Sure you can: massive drop in agricultural output, so higher food prices. Government ORDERS massive subsidies to keep supporters happy. Those massive subsidies essentially bankrupt the government. Which responds by simply printing trillions of dollars of unsupported currency. Which sends inflation into hyperinflation, a la Venezuela.
Not up to speed on Venezuela? What a shame, cuz it's right on point with both South Africa and the U.S. But unless you're one American out of a million, you haven't heard jack about Venezuela. You might ask why.
Between 2016 and April 2019 the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) officially estimated that the inflation rate was...wait for it...**one hundred percent per year!**
Oh, I hear my liberal friends saying "Dat not possible! You lie!"
Okay, you're right. The actual calculation was a seemingly impossible 53,798,500% over that period.
But don't be worried, liberal morons, cuz in April of 2019, the International Monetary Fund estimated that inflation would drop to a mere 10,000,000% by the end of 2019.
Liberal morons: "Dat not possible!"
Me: Compare your calculations with the IMF's, and perhaps you can find where they dropped the ball, eh snowflake?
So back to duh faaabulous South Africa--totally black-run for the last 25 years or so: Killing white farmers and seizing their farmland, horrible as that is, won't be what kills SA. Instead it will be that with corrupt fellow-tribe members running the entire government, including the courts, *no member of the ruling party is ever convicted of anything.*
As a result, corrupt managers have learned that the fastest way to amass a fortune is to steal from one of the large government-owned companies. Like, say, Eskom--the only company allowed to generate and sell electricity in the country. So yes, a state-run monopoly.
Two men have been arrested after stealing 100-MILLION rand worth of fuel oil *per month* from one of the state-owned powerplants. One of the men, Jessie Phindile Kubeka, works for Eskom but also happens to own 51 percent interest in a company that supplies oil and goods to it. Two other Eskom employees are facing the same charges.
Now here's the kicker that shows the real intent of the ruling party to let the fraudsters off easy--after they tip ten percent to the Big Guy, of course: The last two were released on bail of 5,000 rand each. For those who don't follow currency values, 5,000 rand is about $300--after stealing six million dollars in fuel oil PER MONTH. The article doesn't say how many months the fraud had gone on, but it was a "months-long investigation."
The really clever thieves/thugs in S.A. have learned that the best target to steal from is the taxpayers, since the government is where the big money is.
Big losers are ordinary citizens, who are now subject to "load-shedding" events of up to 12 four-hour periods in 8 days. That's a LOT of dark homes.
NOW, the relevance to American voters: If you've been paying attention, for months now we've been seeing endless videos of so-called "smash-and-grab" robberies, usually in San Francisco but also in L.A. and a few other cities. This will get worse--MUCH worse--because corrupt mayors and Soros-funded DA's won't try to stop it, and it's probably not possible to do so in any case, since the thugs have surprise on their side, and can choose their targets.
But more to the point, the thieves know that even if their face is perfectly caught on a surveillance cam, the DA won't prosecute em. Instead they're released the same day, without even being required to post bail!
We're also seeing a huge increase in fentanyl imports and overdose deaths. Again, no fear of prosecution, as the DAs of many Dem-ruled cities have announced that they will no longer even bother to charge people who sell illegal drugs. If there's no penalty, why not take the easy money, eh?
Little by little--almost imperceptibly to most--the machinery of our fabulously wealthy society will stop working due to lack of spare parts or money to pay for repairs. Like the clock in Atlas Shrugged, it hasn't worked in as long as anyone can recall, and no one in the city seems to want to try to fix it.
Pumps will fail, and not be replaced. Same with street lights, ambulances, fire trucks. Potholes will go un-filled. X-ray machines at airports will break, forcing longer lines, but since the city doesn't care about inconveniences to citizens, the machines won't get fixed.
Think that's not possible? Venezuela hasn't had basic antibiotics, sterilizing agents, even *sheets* in most hospitals for years now. The method of operation now is, if you want something, you have to bring it in yourself. Yet no one has revolted, cuz you get thrown in prison for that sort of thing. So now it's just accepted as "the way things are, citizen."
Finally, there's an amusing story unfolding in San Francisco: For the past dozen years or so the head of the city's "public works department" has been a totally corrupt guy named Mohammed Al-Nuru. He took bribes to steer multi-million-dollar city contracts to those who paid him kickbacks, and he made sure to cut a few "city supervisors" in on his deals to make sure he wouldn't be prosecuted.
He got away with it for years, but under Trump some U.S. attorney finally got motivated enough to take the guy down. His web of kickbacks and payoffs has been unraveling for over a year now, but it already appears that no one will go to jail, regardless.
This is what will kill--is killing--the U.S: politicians and appointed officials who've woven a careful network of "friends in high places" who will keep them from ever being punished with more than a token slap on the wrist, regardless of how many millions they steal.
