Terry McAuliffe baffled that telling parents the state owns their children wasn't universally applauded
After losing to the Republican Tuesday, Virginia Democrat Terry McAuliffe told reporters the loss was due to white racists.
"Everyone in the media agrees that we should have won," McAuliffe told reporters. "We did everything the teachers' unions wanted, told parents they don't get any input into what we teach their kids. Told parents we own their children's minds, that
they're wards of the state, and that their children are all racists who need to atone for slavery. We put explicit
LGBT and transgender novels on the required-reading lists. But for some reason parents didn't seem to want their kids to learn those critical ra--uh, critical things. After all, all the kids at Harvard and Yale love that stuff!"
McAuliffe denied that his and other Democrats' loss might suggest that Americans were displeased with his party's policies or ruling style, instead saying the Party shouldn't change a thing. "All we have to do is keep doing what we're doing," he said. "Americans will eventually realize how stupid they are in not voting for us. We just need to push our policies harder."
