Cold-blooded killer--unquestionably guilty--finally scheduled for lethal injection 30 years later; leftist mag is distressed

Newsweek is a cesspool of cunning anti-American leftists.  Of course you think that's hyperbole.  Okay, consider that two days ago writer Khaleda Rahman opined on the possible execution of a black murderer scheduled for today in Alabama.  Here are the opening 'grafs.  See if you can spot the bias:

The execution of an Alabama inmate convicted of murdering a woman abducted from an ATM is set to go ahead this week. Willie Smith III is scheduled to die via lethal injection at a south Alabama prison on Thursday.

Smith was sentenced after being convicted of the 1991 abduction and slaying of 22-year-old Sharma Ruth Johnson. According to court records, Smith, who is Black, abducted Johnson, a white woman, from an ATM in Birmingham at gunpoint. He forced her to reveal her ATM access code to steal $80 from her account, then shot her execution-style in a cemetery.

Didja notice that "black" is capitalized, but "white" isn't.  Nah, no bias there, eh?  The rest of the article notes that the murderer has a low IQ, implying that he shouldn't be executed cuz, you know...

Newsweek understandably avoided including a pic of the 22-year-old white woman Smith executed back in 1991. She was at an ATM.  He asked her for directions to a fast-food restaurant, then he pulled out a sawed-off shotgun, demanded the PIN to her ATM and stole the last $80 from her bank account.

He then ordered her into the trunk of his car, and with his girlfriend, Angelica Willis, picked up Willis’ brother. Angelica Willis testified that once her brother learned the woman was in the trunk, he taunted her. The three then drove to a cemetery, where Smith executed Sharma Ruth Johnson. 

Willis said before the shooting she and her brother tried to talk Smith out of killing the victim.  Willis said Smith told Johnson, 'I’m going to have to kill you' because he thought she would call the police.

A secret recording of Smith explaining the killing to a friend was played in court.  The killer's girlfriend testified against him and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

 The killer randomly picked a young white girl at an ATM because she was female and young, and an easy target.  That is, he used some degree of intelligence in selecting his victim.  He used some degree of logic to realize she might identify him if he released her, so he executed her.  For $80.

The liberal argument is he is too stupid to be executed.  But he had enough base intelligence to select a defenseless female as a victim, and to realize she might identify him.  He knew robbery was a crime.  So is he too stupid to be executed for murdering Sharma Ruth Johnson 30 years ago?  Writer Khaleda Rahman and her editors think so.
