"Progressive" leftist candidate in Seattle boarded a school bus, said she "might have a bomb;" Dems love her

Mental illness is hard on those it afflicts.  And those who recover should be able to compete for jobs.

Like commercial airline pilot.  Neurosurgeon.  Nuclear warhead maintenance technician.  Vice-president.

Wait, do I hear some of you saying "Uh...it doesn't seem like a great idea to put someone with past mental-health problems in one of those positions.  Why not let 'em apply for a job with a lot less potential to kill people or make decisions that would do damage if they happened to have a relapse, eh?"

That's a good point.  Okay, so how about, say, mayor or county commissioner or senator?

Wait, ya say those posts would ALSO be hugely risky if bad decisions were made?  Yeah, I see your point.

So now for the story: A Somali female who is currently director of the "Equitable Development Division" (really) in Seattle's Office of Planning and Community Development, earning over $130,000 a year is now running for the King County Council (where it's possible to earn a staggering $250,000 per year.)  She bills herself as a "progressive," so naturally the communists and leftists in Seattle gruberment love and support her.  Here are two endorsements from such luminaries: Democrat state senator Rebecca Saldana gushed "I will follow Ubax anywhere."  Radical former Seattle city council member Mike O'Brien called Gardheere "An amazing leader."  Yeah, really.

What Seattle's paper won't tell voters is that on Jan. 12, 2010, Ubex Gardheere boarded a school bus on  its regular morning run and began yelling at the children about America's relationship with Somalia.  According to an audio recording of the incident, when the driver told Gardheere to get off the bus she said "You need to calm yourselves down 'cause I could have a bomb. Look how loose my clothes are."

In court filings the prosecutor wrote that as students fled through the rear emergency exit of the bus, Gardheere began screaming that they were "cowards" for abandoning their classmates, and told them they would be responsible if anything happened to their classmates.

Gardheere was arrested and charged with a felony.  But as you probably guessed, a Somali in a liberal city like Seattle always walks, and Gardheere eventually pled guilty to a misdemeanor before trial.

It's not clear if Saladana or O'Brien were aware of Gardheere's bomb threat against children on a school bus when they endorsed Gardheere.

In a recent interview with a local liberal paper Gardheere played the victim, claiming that when she threatened the kids on the bus with a possible bomb, she was "criminalized for mental health issues."

King county candidate Ubax Gardheere

Now, I'll readily agree that mental health issues are hard on those afflicted, and I'm delighted that Ubax seems to have recovered.  But as noted at the beginning, there are tens of thousands of jobs she could apply for where a recurrence of mental issues wouldn't do much damage.  Government posts aren't one of those.

But of course in Seattle--and King county in general--the leftists rule things, and have for decades.  The results are readily visible to anyone who cares to look.  So Seattle residents will keep electing people who have a shaky history--including communists and assorted leftist freaks--and then will wonder why things haven't improved.
