California officials to vote on mandatory "ethnic studies" course for all students, to include prayers to Aztec gods of sacrifice

If you live in California you know that the California Department of Education is run by communists.  Has been for years.  A year ago those revolutionaries decided they'd force all six million Cali students--both high school and college--to take a course in "ethnic studies" to graduate.

The Left already knew what they wanted that course to do, and one of their darlings--a creature named "R. Tolteka Cuauhtin--responded by developing what the Left calls the "Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum.  As you'd expect, this "model" curriculum casts the U.S. as an evil empire that must be overthrown.

What you probably didn't expect was that the "model" requires students to chant prayers to an Aztec god of sacrifice.  Hey, is that woke or what?

The new ethnic studies curriculum is based on the “pedagogy of the oppressed,” developed by Marxist theoretician Paolo Freire, who argued that students must be educated about their oppression in order to overthrow their oppressors.  The model curriculum instructs teachers to help students critique “white supremacy, racism and other forms of power and oppression.”

In 2019 R. Tolteka Cuauhtin--the original co-chair of the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum committee--wrote a book called Rethinking Ethnic Studies, which is cited throughout the curriculum.  The author argues that the United States was founded on "an anthropocentric paradigm brought from Europe,” which is certainly true.  The language of the book is incendiary and revolutionary, which is why the Left knew they wanted Cuauhtin from the outset.

The ultimate goal is to “decolonize” American society and establish a new regime of “countergenocide” and “counterhegemony,” which will displace white culture.  Seriously, they say that.

The model curriculum even has an official “ethnic studies community chant.”  It recommends that teachers lead their students in a series of "indigenous songs, chants, and affirmations," including the “In Lak Ech Affirmation,” which appeals directly to the Aztec gods. Students first clap and chant to the god Tezkatlipoka—whom the Aztecs traditionally worshipped with human sacrifice and cannibalism—asking him for the power to be “warriors” for “social justice.”

Next, students are told to chant to the Aztec gods Quetzalcoatl, Huitzilopochtli, and Xipe Totek, asking for “a revolutionary spirit.” Huitzilopochtli, in particular, is the Aztec deity of war and inspired hundreds of thousands of human sacrifices during Aztec rule.  Finally the chant comes to a climax with a request for “liberation, transformation, [and] decolonization,” after which students shout “Panche beh! Panche beh!” in pursuit of ultimate “critical consciousness.”

If a state-run school system ordered students to offer "chants" to the God of the Bible, the ghastly supreme court would strike that down in a heartbeat--as indeed the court has, repeatedly.  Public schools are prohibited from opening the school day with a prayer, even if read by a student.  Teachers and principals at state schools have even taken Bibles from students, and ordered students not to talk about religion in the cafeteria.  Gays can have school clubs, but not Christians.

You'd think "chants"--prayers--to Aztec gods of war and human sacrifice would be similarly illegal.  But of course the court is notoriously biased in choosing what cases to hear--as the stolen election amply demonstrated.

So...under the cunning disguise of “equity” and “empowerment,” leftists in Cali's education empire have labelled the United States an oppressor nation that must be deconstructed and subverted through politics. The curriculum’s stated goal is to turn education into a “tool for transformation...and liberation.”

The state board of education will vote on this revolutionary garbage next week. Any sane governing body would reject it, but given who runs the state board, and the nature of California politics, the board is likely to make this piece of crap mandatory for all students.
