Total U.S. deaths this year are exactly what they would have been without the Chinese virus. Wait...what??
"OMG, this mysterious virus--which was NOT released from China!--is gonna kill two million Americans unless you all stay locked down and wear masks 24/7. The great Anthony Fauci has spoken!!!"
Ah. Except...As I've been telling you for months, the total number of deaths in the U.S. this year, from all causes, is no higher than the historic average adjusted for population growth.
"That's just a right-wing conspiracy story, citizen! Just like so-called 'election fraud.' What nonsense! The mysterious virus--which, you must keep believing, did NOT come from our good friends the Chinese--has killed nearly two MILLION one MILLION half a MILLION 300,000 Americans! (Of course most low-info Americans are so conditioned that they'd believe any figure we claimed.) So stay in your homes and keep wearing those masks, peons!"
Okay, follow me though here: The total population in the U.S. increases an average of a little over one percent per year (almost entirely from immigration of all types, and births to illegal immigrants). So before the Chinese virus arrived, we would expect total deaths to rise by the same amount each year. So how many deaths have been reported by the CDC over the past decade?
The numbers below are from the CDC. Recognizing that two-digit accuracy isn't precise enough for really fine-tuning, we see deaths rising at a steady 1.5% per year, consistent with population growth. And that's also what we see so far in 2020. If we assume the total listed below for 2020 was just for the first ten months, that's about 250,000 deaths per month. ATt that rate we'd expect the last two months of this year would add another half-million deaths.
That would bring total death for 2020 year to 3 million, or almost exactly what would have been expected WITHOUT the virus. Take a look:
I've checked Miller's figures with the CDC. Here's the relevant clip from their 2010 report, which you can verify for yourself here. It tracks with Miller's figure. Here's 2012:
So the guy's figures are indeed from the CDC. "Oh you silly deplorable, the CDC figures don't include COVID deaths! Those are kept in a separate file...or something. Or something else. Cuz...you're stupid! Only the Mainstream Media has the real numbers! If it's not on Google, you can't trust it!"Yeah.
"But...but...but...Fauci and the Media have repeatedly said the mysterious virus has killed 300,000 Americans! Why aren't total deaths higher by that same amount??"
Say, that's a really good question!
But don't expect any reporter to ask Fauci or Gavin or Cuomo or Basement Biden to explain the discrepancy. Cuz that might cause voters to wonder if the Mainstream Media and their Deep-State, anti-Trump allies been [gasp!] LYING or somethin'.
Update: Amusingly, the comments to Miller's tweet said exactly what I sarcastically spoofed above. Here's just one, claiming the CDC isn't counting covid deaths in "total deaths" : Amazing.
Update 2: I've now seen a dozen bullshit articles in lying propaganda organs like "PolitiFact" (motto: "We fact-check for Facebook, so you know we'll tell the truth, right?") saying "Some have said total deaths this year are the same as last year, but that’s not a complete depiction of how many Americans died in 2020."
Ah, so CDC reports of total U.S. deaths from all cause are "not a complete depiction of how many Americans died in 2020." The average reader reasonably interprets this as "Whoever said there hasn't been a spike in deaths was wrong." But of course, that's NOT AT ALL what it says.
So do enlighten us ignorant deplorables, oh great elites. "Okay, the reason is...wait for it...2020 isn't over yet (at least when this story came out), so there is absolutely no way in the world that anyone could possibly compare 2020 to 2019! See, logic! Believe the SCIENCE, deplorables!"
Ah. And this so-called "fact check" was quickly picked up by the Dem-loving USAToday Well. Let's look at the figures that WERE published by the CDC: As of November 16th, the CDC reported 2,487,350 total deaths from all causes. November 16th is the 320th day of the year. If we assume the number of deaths per day will be about the same for the last 45 days of the year, that would lead us to expect total deaths for the year to be around 2,837,134.
As a check, divide the 2,487,350 U.S. deaths thru November 16th by 320 to get the number of deaths per day (7773 per day), multiply by the 45 remaining days from November 16th (349,784), and add to the logged Nov 16 figure to get... 2,837,134. As expected.
Another confirming datapoint: total deaths reported by the CDC as of December 11th was 2.73 million. Using the CDC total for November 16th and the average of 7773 deaths per day for the intervening 25 days would predict 2.68 million total deaths by December 11th. Pretty close.
Now go back up to the top and find that the number of deaths from all causes officially reported by the CDC for all of 2019 was...2.9 million.
If you're a liberal, let me explain that for ya: Unless there was a really big spike in deaths in the last six weeks of 2020, there will be not more, but fewer deaths in 2020 than in 2019.
Yet the CDC and every single lying Mainstream Media outlet keeps screaming that there were at least 300,000 "excess deaths" in 2020. Cuz the official figures said 346,000 deaths from the f'n Chinese Wuhan virus, eh? Interesting.
There are only two ways to square this discrepancy: Deaths from flu and pneumonia plunged by 95% in 2020, so it's possible that 95% of the deaths attributed to the virus were actually due to flu and pneumonia, and would have happened anyway.
The other way to make this discrepancy vanish is for the CDC to simply change the total number of deaths they previously reported as the official total. I saw the November 16th figure with my own eyes, but now can't find it on the CDC site. When numbers disappear from sites, my experience is that they're usually being "updated" to make them support whatever the bureaucracy wants.
And in this case, the CDC is determined to convince you that the virus killed 346,000 Americans, and to ignore the official reports that flu and pneumonia deaths are way down. In other words, that a huge percentage of so-called "covid deaths" were actually due to flu or pneumonia.
