Democrats who control Maryland continue to release illegal-alien killers, but are getting tough on...um...

Maryland is suffering its worst crime crisis ever, even rivaling the crime waves of the 1970s and 1980s.  With record homicides both in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, there hasn't been a single piece of legislation passed this session dealing with tougher sentencing and closing the criminal loopholes that allow the release of so many violent criminals into the human ecosystem.

In fact it’s about to get even worse, because the same Maryland Democrats who run the state are now getting ready to release even the worst criminal alien gang members.

Last year Prince George’s County passed a bill, in contravention to federal law and against the warnings of its own police department, to prohibit county officials from working with ICE in any capacity, even for the detention and removal of the worst criminal aliens.  Baltimore City is also a notorious sanctuary for criminal aliens.

In May 2018, two MS-13 members were arrested on murder charges.  Despite ICE asking the state to detain them until ICE could arrive and arrest them, the state released both.  And just a year later they were arrested again--this time for first-degree murder of a 14-year-old.

Astonishingly (to sane Americans, anyway), state authorities still wouldn’t honor an ICE detainer!

But don't worry, the state's liberal lawmakers (the legislature has a veto-proof supermajority of Democrats) are busy studying new laws to end many loopholes exploited by killers.

Oh wait...they're not doing any such thing.  It's almost as if the liberal Dems who run that cesspool don't actually care if their citizens are victimized, as long as the lawmakers can preen about their supposed "virtue" in defying federal laws.

But there's one area where Maryland's Democrats are demonstrating they're tough on "crime:"  The state senate just passed a law that will fine kids who release balloons up to $250.

On Monday, the Maryland Senate passed a bill 38-3 (SB28) that would prohibit balloon releases in the state unless they’re for scientific research.  Violators above the age of 13 will face a penalty of up to $250.  The bill now heads to the House, where Democrats have an insurmountable super-majority.
