Love that 3-D chess
By now everyone's heard that a mob in Baghdad stormed our embassy, burning outbuildings and throwing rocks for two days before dispersing--after Trump sent in a couple of hundred Marines.
The U.S. Lying Mainstream Media called the mob "Iraqi mourners," but numerous cell phone pics of the mob--uploaded by the members of the mob themselves--showed known leaders of Iranian military and militia groups. Gradually, people began to see the mob as being NOT Iraqi but Iranian.
The members of the mob were totally confident that the troops defending the embassy wouldn't shoot them. And the Iranians who organized the mob didn't care if the defenders shot members of their mob, cuz that would give the Iranians even more world support. So for the Iranians it was win-win.
The Iraqi police who should have been defending the embassy offered no resistance. So either the police or their leaders are Iranian sympathizers.
So with that background, here's what Trump should do: Tell Iraq's leaders, in a very public manner, that the next time they don't take out this sort of mob in 30 minutes, he'll pull all remaining troops out of Iraq.
Now you probably think that's playing right into the hands of the Iranians. After all, half of the folks in the Iraqi government are Iranian sympathizers who will block orders to defend our embassy, which would presumably trigger a U.S. withdrawal. So by giving Iraq an ultimatum, Trump would, in effect, be handing Iraq to the Iranians. Insane, right?
Not at all. Iran and Iraq were at war with each other for a full decade back in the 1980s, and lots of Iraqis who lost fathers haven't forgotten. They have scores to settle with Iran. And an Iranian takeover would also deepen the anger between Sunni and Shia muslims. So Iraqis who didn't support Iran's mullahs would be forced into the same type of terrorist war which has characterized Muslim factions for the last 30 years or so.
Win-win.
