"If we confiscate privately-owned guns, criminals will give up theirs too! Yep yep yep!"

For the last 30 years or so the leaders of the Democrat party have been trying to ban private ownership of guns that can fire a single round with each pull of the trigger.

They claim this is to make us all safer, because... ah, here's where things get a bit...hazy.  For a ban on gun ownership to make "us" safer, Democrats must make a crucial--but never explicitly stated--assumption: that criminals will obey their new law(s) and give up their guns.

Of course no Dem ever actually SAYS that, because anyone with an IQ over 90 instantly knows it's utter crap:  criminals, by definition, don't obey laws.  If someone's willing to murder, rape or rob, why would they care about a law against carrying a gun, eh?

But if this defect in their proposals is so utterly predictable, logical, why do Dems ignore it and keep on with their constant plans to effectively ban private gun ownership?

Because it polls well, both with socialists and with-meaning non-socialist idiots.

Of course Democrat politicians and their media allies are the same folks who, when the first couple of states were considering passing "concealed carrry" laws, screamed that doing so would turn the state into a wild-west bloodbath, with shootouts on every corner.  Bodies would be everywhere!

Of course not only didn't that happen, but crime actually DEcreased in states with concealed-carry laws. 

So did the screamers ever say "Ah, maybe we were wrong about that"?

Hahahahaha!  You're kidding, right?  Of course they didn't admit they were wrong, but instead pointed to stats they claimed showed crime rates were dropping in all states.  Either that or maybe because Mars was in opposition with Jupiter or some similar bullshit.
