Leftist website claims church merely "switched" to mosque, ignoring slaughter of thousands
If you're under 30 or so you've probably never heard of Hagia Sophia. It's a historic building in Istanbul (formerly Constantinople).
For centuries it was once the largest church in Europe. Now it's a mosque.
In the new, revised history published by the leftists at Salon, this carnage is euphemized to "the Hagia Sophia famously switched fromm a Christian church to a mosque."
Hundreds of other churches in Constantinople and elsewhere suffered the same fate. In the ensuing months and years, millions of Christians were killed or enslaved.
For centuries it was once the largest church in Europe. Now it's a mosque.
Leftists constantly re-write history. And sure enough, in a recent piece about churches in the U.S. that have recently been converted to mosques--the leftist website Salon cited a precedent: “Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia famously switched from a Christian
church to a mosque in 1453."
Wait...according to Salon's leftist author the Hagia Sophia merely “switched” from a
church to a mosque?
Uh, not exactly. What Salon euphemistically calls a "switch" happened after Muslim fighters conquered the city on May 29, 1453. After doing so they raided monasteries and
convents, emptying them of their inhabitants, plundered private
houses and killed thousands.
In this course of
this pillage the jihadis entered the Hagia
Sophia, which was filled with Orthodox
Christians who'd gathered to pray
during the city’s last agony. The jihadists halted the morning prayer, then killed the elderly and weak
and led the rest off into slavery.
Hundreds of other churches in Constantinople and elsewhere suffered the same fate. In the ensuing months and years, millions of Christians were killed or enslaved.
Salon wants readers to view the "switch" as a routine
real estate transaction rather than the slaughter it actually was. It's just one more example of the establishment media’s efforts
to minimize, ignore or deny the reality of Islamic jihad, and
to whitewash Islamic doctrine and history.
