Pakistani national at heart of House scandal--still free--asks that judge remove GPS locator

Time for another installment of the scandal the Lying Mainstream Media refuses to cover--because doing so would cost the Democrats support.  It's the almost-unbelievable tale of former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's treasonous Pakistani computer-tech "employee" Imran Awan.

Wasserman-Schultz hired Imran to be her office computer guy.  He then managed to get four of his relatives hired by a total of 30 (!) Democrat representatives to do the same thing for their offices.  But the job didn't require anyone to show up every day, and in fact the others rarely showed up.  One had just been fired from a burger-flipping job at McDonald's when he landed the $150,000 a year job with the Democrats.

In any case, Imran did most of the work, and staffers for the Dems complained that the Pakistani crew was slow to respond to problems.  Basically it looks like Imran put his relatives on as "ghost employees."

But that paled compared to the Awan's theft of government laptops and other electronics, and their rigging office computers to send data to a private server off the capital grounds.  One Democrat rep's office manager wrote off $120,000 of stolen computer equipment rather than have to explain what happened to it.

So the first question is, did Wasserman-Schultz suggest that her fellow Dem reps hire Imran and family?  Second, what happened to the data on the off-site server?  Third, once it became apparent that the Awans were bad actors, why did six Dem reps keep the Awans on their payroll instead of firing them?

If you've barely heard about this, that's by design:  The lying media refuse to give this story any air.

So a couple of months ago Imran'w wife beat feet back to Pakistan, with their kids.  Imran wired $285,000 to Pakistan, and the FBI arrested him as he was about to board a plane to...Pakistan.  He was indicted on charges of bank fraud and three other fraud charges, all unrelated to his work for the Democrat representatives.

Now if any of US was accused of this stuff, and had demonstrated a desire to flee the U.S., had no remaining ties here and were from a foreign country hostile to the U.S., we'd be in jail awaiting trial.  But for some bizarre reason Imran is still walking around free.  Oh, he was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device.  Yeah.  And the guy has shown SUCH concern for obeying things we quaintly call "laws" that we can be totally sure he'll comply, and won't cut the thing off and hightail it.

You may well wonder how he got such a great deal that would never be offered to "ordinary people" like us.  Good question.  One hint is that one of his three lawyers (Chris Gowen) is a former close aide to Hillary and Bill Clinton.

An equally good clue is to realize that the 30 Democratic representatives--including the former CHAIR of the party's national committee--would benefit greatly if Awan managed to flee the U.S. and hide forever in Pakistan, since that would make a trial impossible.  Meaning none of the details would ever be learned, let alone revealed to the public.

Sweet, huh.

Helps to be...um...connected to powerful Democrats, eh?  Cuz then you can get the damn director of the FBI itself to casually wave away your crimes by testifying under oath--falsely--that in order to be prosecuted for compromising Top Secret information a person must have "intent."  But that particular statute says nothing about intent.

So...now Awan (through his attorney) is claiming that even the lenient conditions of the GPS monitor are too cruel:  Gowen has now asked the judge to allow Awan to remove the GPS monitor.

The "reason" Gowan used was that Imran might need to attend to an emergency with his children.  Gowan failed to mention to the judge was that the children are in Pakistan--which makes the "reason" bullshit.  In a press conference outside court, Gowen admitted this, but refused to explain the illogic.

We're not done yet:  Awan had been restricted to not going further than 50 miles from home.  Gowan has now also asked the judge to remove this restriction as well.  The "reason" given by the attorney was that his client was allegedly driving for Uber, and if he got a passenger who wanted to go more than 50 miles from D.C, well....

The Daily Caller contacted Uber to see if they had any record of Awan driving for them.

Uber said they had no record of any driver matching several variations of Imran’s name.

So again, why is this guy--who is clearly a flight risk--not in jail?  Would anyone else in this situation get the ridiculously lenient treatment this guy has gotten?  And for the lawyer--a former Clinton aide--to ask the judge to let him remove the ankle-device boggles the mind, since people cut those off all the time.  Yes, it triggers an alarm, but of course they can't then find him.  Guy could be over the Atlantic en-route to Pakistan before they realize he's gone.

And again, who stands to benefit the most from Awan vanishing?  The leaders of the Democratic party.

Eh, trivial, right?  I mean, who really thinks our laws were meant to apply equally to everyone?

Well, maybe the founders meant the laws to apply equally to all, but they were from a simpler time, and couldn't have understood how our society would "evolve" into elites and...worker bees.

Yeh, dat's it.
