Dem rulers of Portland OR sign $50-million contract to let former lifers run shelters

Here's one of those thousands of stories that make you think "Wow, who could possibly have predicted THIS, eh?  Well, except anyone who wasn't a liberal/Democrat." 

If you pay attention you may be aware that Portland, Oregon has become a magnet for drug users and crazies, almost all of whom are "homeless"--since it's hard to afford to keep a home when you don't have a job, which is usually the case if one is either a druggie or crazy.

The druggie/crazies camped out on sidewalks and near schools and playgrounds.  For some reason local residents and business owners didn't seem to like this.  It's a mystery, eh?  But never fear: the Democrats who run all the shithole cities had a Plan!

Jail 'em?  Ship 'em to California or Washington?  Nah.  Instead the Dems gave a multi-million-dollar contract to a "non-profit" (of course) liberal grifter organization from California called "Urban Alchemy" to run a shelter ("village") for 67 druggie/crazies.

One of the problems is that Urban Alchemy is staffed by convicted felons. According to its website, "Most of our team have served life sentences in prison, spending 20+ years in a confined environment. This teaches them instincts that you can’t learn in a classroom."

The brain-trust Democrat pols in Portland awarded the California-based non-profit 5-year, $50 million contract to operate homeless villages for the city.  Supposedly this "village" is the first of five the "non-profit) will opened in Portland.

The organization claims to have 28 contracts totaling $61 million in four different cities with nine different government agencies.

SO...problem solved, eh?  Another resounding success for the Democrats, right?

No. Neighbors say the "village" is the center of crime in the neighborhood.  Neighbors shared a security video with the showing known drug dealers openly selling right outside their homes in broad daylight.

Neighbors say they've called the cops but have gotten no response at all.

An official with Urban Alchemy told a local TV station "The village is providing life-saving housing and services to 68 Portlanders who were suffering on the street.  We're proud of the work we've done to bring it online.  We are taking immediate steps to determine illicit activity."

"Prior to moving into our 'Safe Rest Village,' the residents had all been in camps, which are highly vulnerable and can become hubs for unsafe and illegal activity. That's why we cleared the camp and why it's critical that we keep moving the homeless into our facilities as fast as we can."

A spokeswoman for the city said "mumble mumble bullshit bullshit actively working with other bureaus and partners to address current ongoing needs.  We are confident that this village will provide benefits to the homeless--and to the surrounding community."  And no doubt benefitting some bank accounts too.
 
Recently, after residents sued the city for violating the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, the city agreed to remove homeless tents and debris from sidewalks, and banned camping on city streets during daytime hours.  Of course the ban isn't enforced, cuz the pols don't wanna anger the crazies.

We'll update you on the progress of this model "village" for druggie/crazies in Portland.
