Commie union puts a "ballot initiative" before Cali voters to tax billionaires 5% more
Shit just keeps getting crazier and crazier.
Many states have a thing called a "ballot initiative," which allows citizens to put proposed laws on the ballot. If they're approved by a majority of voters, they become law.
Wait, dat not quite right: Duh initiative ballot measure becomes law UNLESS it's a law that would declare that marriage was between a man and a women--in which case it was overturned by a homosexual chief judge on the state Supreme Court. So ballot measures only become law if the rulers agree, eh?
Which brings us to a ballot initiative put on the ballot by a communist group, the "Service Employees International Union," called the "2026 Billionaire Tax Act."
If passed by voters, this initiative would impose a 5% tax on "all forms of personal property and wealth, whether tangible or intangibleā of billionaires in the state.
But yew not a billionaire, so why would you NOT vote fo' dis, eh? Especially cuz duh stated purpose wud be to fund state healthcare programs fo' duh po'!
The other kaboom is "whether tangible or intangible." What the hell is "intangible personal property"?
Well, citizen, we'll need a new state agency to decide that, eh? Say, five respected bureaucrats paid $250,000 a year to decide this crucial, weighty question. Three of the five would be respected officials of the Service Employees International Union, eh?
California Gov. Gavin Newsom hasn't said whether he supports the measure, meaning either way the vote goes, he'll win. Let me explain: If the initiative passes, the Democrat party will bleat that Newsom actually quietly supported it--behind the scenes, of course. And if voters don't pass it, the Party will bleat that the reason it failed is that Newsom didn't support it.
Win-win, eh?
And that's not the funny part, which is: No matter whether the thing is voted up or down, the national Mainstream Media will totally swoon that Newsom did the right thing.
Count on it.
