Leftist writer tells Dems 'The key claim you cite for doing sex-changes on minors is a lie'
Democrats have always called sex-changing drugs and surgery "gender-affirming medical care." The theory is that by some twist kids can be "born into the wrong body." So mutilating their healthy bodies, first with puberty blockers, then so-called "cross-sex hormones" and finally with surgery to remove offending parts, is merely...wait for it..."affirming" the child's alleged "real" gender.
Dems and Leftists have claimed that there's a key piece of "evidence" showing sex-change operations are totally necessary: they claim if kids do NOT get this surgery, they're more likely to commit suicide.
But now a writer at The Atlantic blows up that claim, telling the mag's readers it's entirely fictitious.
And the Left/Dems always bleat that everyone should "believe the science," right? So what are they gonna do now?
ABC news featured a pro-tranny doctor saying "We often asked parents, 'Would you rather have a dead son than a live daughter?'" Variations on the phrase crop up in innumerable media articles and public statements by influencers, activists, and LGBTQ groups.
Biden's solicitor general made the same claim before the Supreme Court last year, when the court heard the Left's lawsuit against Tennessee's law prohibiting the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones on minor children.
It's a heart-wrenching claim--by design. Just one problem: It's a lie.
You think that can't possibly be right, because the Left got away with the claim for over a decade. Because the claim went unrefuted for so long, I understand your skepticism. So take a look at how the ACLU's top, hotshot tranny attorney, "Chase Strangio," handled questions from SC justices:
When Justice Samuel Alito challenged ACLU lawyer Strangio for evidence to support the claim, first Strangio dodged the question, saying research shows that blockers and hormones reduce "depression, anxiety, and suicidality"--that is, suicidal thoughts.
But when Alito cited a systematic review conducted in England, Strangio conceded that "There is no evidence...that this treatment reduces completed suicide."
The U.K. study found that suicide rates for patients who did NOT get sex-change ops did NOT result in higher suicide rates.
Here was the ACLU's foremost pro-tranny attorney, in front of the nation's highest court, admitting that what the Left had always claimed as the strongest argument for sex-change surgery on minors was, in fact, not supported by the evidence.
How much more clear does it get, eh?
But even that admission didn't convince the three dissenting female liberal justices. Sonia Sotomayor claimed in her dissent that "access to care can be a question of life or death." Ahh, "can be." But clearly delaying sex-change operations for minors is NOT one of those times.
Most liberals are unaware of this because they get all their info from the Mainstream Media, where talking heads repeat lies without a care in the world.
Strangio--who works for what was once a free-speech organization--once tweeted that [she] would like to ban Abigail Shrier's book Irreversible Damage, a skeptical treatment of youth gender medicine. Strangio declared, "Stopping the circulation of this book and these ideas is 100% a hill I will die on."
The former head of the most prominent organization pushing sex-change for minors has compared opponents of sex-change operations for kids to Holocaust deniers.
Strangio apparently expected the Supreme Court justices would be just as eager to swallow horseshit as the Media, and when it became clear that the conservative justices had done their research--and had some questions--the jig was up.
Pro-tranny activists have spent the past decade telling children that anyone who tries to keep them from getting puberty blockers and hormones is trying to kill them. As Strangio's answer tacitly conceded, that was false. It was also irresponsible.
