Venezuela vs. North Dakota; a tale of two systems

Having an abundance of natural resources is great, but abundant resources alone won't make a country successful or productive.

To be successful nations need a culture--reflected in their government--that allows freedom and private property.

For example, by some measures Venezuela has the more oil reserves than any other nation.  But over the 20-odd years that socialists have ruled that nation, its oil production has steadily dropped from over 4 million barrels per day to just 1.17 million barrels per day.

By stark contrast, for decades North Dakota produced a small amount of oil, until American ingenuity--funded and implemented entirely by private enterprise--found a way to coax oil out of formations that previously wouldn't produce oil.  North Dakota now produces nearly 1.3 million barrels of oil every day--with a retail value of $65 million per day.

Despite Obama's laughable rush to claim credit for this, neither he nor the government he ruled contributed a penny or a single well to this effort.  Every bit of this huge boon was funded by private enterprise, which in turn was made possible by a system of laws allowing private property and profit, courtesy of the Constitution and its astonishing creators.

Meanwhile the miserable citizens of socialist Venezuela--who 20 years ago, astonishingly, voted in the very government that now makes their lives miserable--are forced to eat pets and zoo animals to stay alive.

Imagine how vastly different life in Venezuela would be if that resource-rich country had freedom and private property rights instead of a disarmed population and a socialist government.

But according to all leading Democrats--including their likely presidential candidates Kamala Harris, Corey Booker, Joe Biden, Julian Castro and others--socialism is the greatest thing evah!  And you need to believe them, citizen.  Cuz they're a lot smahtah than you are.

Okay, time to 'fess up to my liberal friends:  The above figures about the drop in oil production of Venezuela, and the huge output of North Dakota, are probably all lies.  That is to say, you haven't seen these figures verified by CNN, MSNBC or the other alphabets, so they're probably just hateful lies created by nutty conservatives.

Yeh, dat's it!

It's outrageous to claim Venezuelans are starving, or that they've butchered zoo animals for food!  That's just raaacist, and anyone who claims that happened is a hater!  Thanks to socialism, Venezuela is a paradise, just like Cuba.  Ordinary citizens get free medical care, and except for a few anti-socialist nuts they're all happy and well-fed.  And it's really awful of haters to denigrate an entire government just because of some unverified tales that are almost certainly untrue.

Fake news, citizen.  Cuz if it wasn't in the NY Times or WaPo, it didn't happen.

If you didn't hear about it, it didn't happen.  Yeh, dat's it.

H/T Moonbattery.
